The electromagnetic flowmeter is an instrument that measures the volumetric flow of conductive liquids based on Faraday's Law of Electromagnetic Induction. It is one of the most widely used and technologically mature instruments for measuring the flow of water and aqueous solutions.
Working principle
An electromagnetic flowmeter is based on Faraday's Law of Electromagnetic Induction. When a conductive liquid flows through a magnetic field, an induced voltage proportional to the flow velocity is generated in a direction perpendicular to the flow. The electrodes inside the instrument measure this voltage, which is then converted by electronic signal processing to obtain the flow velocity and volumetric flow rate.
