Four evolutionary stages and functional characteristics of water meters
At this stage, there are four types of water meters commonly used in my country, the first is mechanical water meters, the second is IC card mechanical water meters, the third is remote mechanical water meters, and the fourth is ultrasonic water meters. The four water meters represent the four stages of water meter evolution in my country.
Stage 1: Mechanical Water Meter
Working principle: Use the flow of water to drive the rotation of the internal gear of the water meter, and the gear under the water meter display panel drives the rotation of the pointer to count, so as to achieve the purpose of measuring the water consumption.
Features: The price of water meters is generally very low, and the measurement accuracy can meet the needs of measurement.
Disadvantages: need staff to read the meter, not on time, not in place, wrong copy, missed copy and so on.
The second stage: IC card mechanical water meter
Working principle: a new type of water meter that uses modern microelectronic technology, modern sensing technology and smart IC card technology to measure water consumption, transmit water data and settle transactions.
Features: It can be prepaid and recharged, which can effectively control the user's water bill payment and facilitate water bill management.
End-to-end: The user needs to recharge at the designated location, and the user's waiting time will be increased during the peak payment period of the pre-charged card.
The third stage: remote transmission mechanical water meter
Working principle: The meter reader issues a meter reading instruction through the remote meter reading system. After receiving the instruction, the communication module on the water meter uploads the data to the server, and the meter reader can copy the water meter data.
Features: meter reading function, prepaid function, remote switch valve, complete meter reading data.
Common types: wired remote water meter and wireless remote water meter. Support MBUS/RS-485 wired transmission LORA/GPRS-4G/NB-loT and other wireless transmission.

Stage 4: Ultrasonic Water Meter
Working principle: Ultrasonic water meter is a measuring instrument for flow measurement based on the principle of ultrasonic propagation time difference. It is composed of core components such as ultrasonic transducer, flow measurement (quantity) pipe section, measurement electronic module, shell and so on. When working, the software program built into the CPU on the electronic module works to control the ultrasonic transducer on the transmitting end to excite the ultrasonic wave, so that it propagates in the measuring pipe section and is received by the ultrasonic transducer on the other end, thereby obtaining the flight time. According to the difference of the flight time of the ultrasonic signal when the ultrasonic signal propagates along the water flow and the reverse water flow, the water flow speed is calculated, and then the instantaneous flow rate is obtained from the cross section, and the accumulated flow rate is calculated over a period of time. The measurement results are displayed on the LCD of the electronic module and are storage.
