Multi-jet water and single-jet water meter Working Principle
· Single Jet Water Meter: Water is directed to the impeller through a single nozzle. The water flow drives the impeller to rotate, and the speed of the impeller is proportional to the water flow. The impeller drives the counter through the gear system to record the amount of water flowing through the water meter.
· Multi Jet Water Meter: Water is evenly directed into the impeller chamber through multiple nozzles. Water flows in from multiple nozzles simultaneously, allowing the impeller to rotate more stably and evenly. The rotation of the impeller drives the gear system, and the counter records the amount of water passing through it. Due to the multi-point water inlet, the flow rate is more evenly distributed and the reading is more accurate.
Certification Notice
When selecting a water meter, international certifications are key indicators of its accuracy and reliability. S.H. Meters' multi-jet water meters have been fully certified by MID and OIML. This ensures that every aspect, from the working principle to practical application, complies with the highest international metrology standards.
What is the difference between a single-jet water meter and a multi-jet water meter?
| Multi-jet water meter | Single jet water meter |
| When the water flows, all the blades while in contact with water. | When the water flows, only one blade while in contact with the water. |
| Flow resistance is larger | Flow resistance is limited |
| Long working life | Short working life |
| More expensive | More economic |
| Small, Sensitive to installation conditions | Sensitive to installation conditions |
Multi-jet water meter and single-jet water meter: Accuracy and Durability
· Single Jet Water Meter: Since the water flow only passes through one nozzle, it is greatly affected by factors such as flow rate and pressure. Its accuracy may not be as good as that of multi-jet water meters under low-flow conditions. Single-jet water meters are usually suitable for small residential users because of their low cost and simple structure, but the accuracy may be affected in long-term use.
· Multi Jet Water Meter: Since the water flow is dispersed to multiple nozzles, the impeller is more evenly impacted by the water flow, so it can maintain high accuracy even at low flow rates. In addition, due to the dispersed design, multi-jet water meters are better at resisting wear and coping with poor water quality, so they are more durable.
Applicable scenarios
· Single Jet Water Meter: Suitable for home or small commercial users, especially when economic considerations are prioritized. It is usually used in small and medium-sized residences, apartments, and on occasions where water flow requirements are not high.
· Multi Jet Water Meter: Suitable for metering occasions that require higher accuracy, such as most commercial and industrial users and areas with high water quality requirements. Multi-jet water meters are often used in multi-unit residences, commercial buildings, and even some industrial applications due to their durability and accuracy.
Cost
· Single Jet Water Meter: Due to its low design and manufacturing costs, single-flow water meters are usually cheaper than multi-flow water meters and are suitable for applications with limited budgets.
· Multi Jet Water Meter: The manufacturing process is relatively complex and the cost is higher, but the higher accuracy and longer service life it provides may bring more economic benefits to users in the long run.
Choosing which type of water meter to use usually depends on the actual application requirements, such as measurement accuracy, usage environment, budget, and water resource management requirements. If higher measurement accuracy and longer service life are required, a multi-jet water meter may be a better choice; if the budget is limited and the accuracy requirements are not high, a single-jet water meter may be more suitable.
