1. Local and national regulations that may relate to electrical health and safety, including classification and location of hazardous sites. When the water meter becomes an integral part of the electrical grounding circuit, in order to minimize the risk of staff, a permanent bypass should be connected to the water meter and its related pipes. Water pipe connections should not be used as grounding systems for electrical equipment.
2. This will undoubtedly pose a potential threat to users as well as to the installation and maintenance personnel of connectors, water meters and related fittings. As a supplement to the relevant national regulations, it is suggested that the internal water supply system should be electrically isolated from the water pipe connectors. This may require inserting at least two meters of insulation between the starting point of the internal pipeline and the downstream metal attachment of the connector.
3. Installers should be aware that even if electrical equipment is well grounded and independent of water pipe connectors, it may still pose a threat to personnel working on water meters and related pipe fittings.
This risk exists in the following circumstances:
1) When there is an equipotential connection between the internal water supply system and the independent grounding point;
2) When the user connects all kinds of electrical equipment to the ground of the building by using the drinking water pipes in the downstream building of the water meter according to the current electrical work orders.
