Water meter classification
1 According to the measuring principle
By measurement principle is a major classification method. Generally, it can be divided into velocity water meters and volumetric water meters.
(1) Speed water meter
There is an impeller inside it, which is impacted by the water flow and then rotated and measured. According to the shape of the impeller, it can be divided into screw type and rotor type water meters. Rotor-type water meters are divided into single-beam water meters and multi-beam water meters.
Installed in a closed pipe, it is composed of a moving element, and the speed of the water flow directly makes it obtain the power speed of the water meter.
(2) Volumetric water meter

Volumetric water meters generally use a piston-type structure, mainly including rotary piston-type water meters and disc-type water meters.
Installed in a pipeline, a water meter consisting of a number of chambers of known volume that are successively filled and discharged with fluid and a mechanism driven by fluid, or a quantitative discharge water meter for short.
This type of water meter has high measurement accuracy and good performance stability, but has high requirements on water quality and high cost;
