The dial of the water meter should face upwards and should not be tilted. If the tilt will increase the frictional resistance between the water meter wing wheel shafts, and even cause the gears of the water meter to mesh incorrectly, the sensitivity of the water meter will be reduced, and the water meter will go slower and slower with the increase of the tilt angle.

Because the working environment outdoors is much worse than that of indoors, the common water meter groups that are centrally set up outdoors are exposed to the sun and rain for a long time, and the gears in the water meters are in a high temperature state for a long time. Deformation and aging greatly affect the measurement accuracy of the water meter. Even if it is used for a long time in a normal working environment, the dial to which the pointer of the water meter is facing is prone to dirt, which covers the scale and prevents the meter reader from reading accurately. Therefore, the water meter installed outdoors should generally be equipped with a protective box.
4. The installation of some water meters does not meet the requirements, because some are restricted by the installation space conditions, and some are due to the lack of technical knowledge of the installer. For example, the water meter is installed immediately after the valve. The water meter should be installed horizontally. Make the reading convenient for wrong operations such as turning the dial that should be facing upwards to the side.
Second, the installation precautions of the water meter
1. Water meter selection Generally configure the water meter according to the nominal diameter of the pipe, and make its flow not higher than its maximum flow. Also select the corresponding specifications according to the flow rate, pipe diameter, etc.
2. Determination of the installation location: Generally, the inlet pipe water meter is installed in the outdoor water meter well, basement or special room. The water meter of the household user is installed on the main entrance pipe. There should be a stop valve in front of the water meter and a check valve in the back. The distance between the water meter shell and the wall shall not be greater than 30mm, the center of the water meter shall be 450～500mm from the other wall, and the installation height shall be 600～ 1200mm. In general, the water meter is in a place that is easy to view, free from exposure to sunlight, free from freezing, and free from pollution.
3. It is better to install a filter before the water meter, and remove the dirt from the pipeline before installing other meters in the pipeline to avoid blockage.
4. In order to maintain the level of the dial, the water meter can only be installed on a horizontal pipe. In addition, the direction of the arrow on the water meter shell should be consistent with the direction of the water flow. If necessary, consider setting up a bypass pipe.
5. Connection form: when DN≥50, use flange connection; when DN≤40, use thread connection.
6. Rotor-wing water meters and vertical screw-wing water meters should be installed horizontally. Horizontal screw-wing and volumetric water meters can be installed horizontally, obliquely or vertically according to the actual situation. When installing vertically, the water flow direction must be from top to bottom.
7. Maintenance valves should be installed on the front and back of the water meter and on the bypass pipe, and a drain device should be installed between the water meter and the valve behind the meter. In order to reduce the loss of water head and ensure the straight flow of water in the pipe before the meter, a gate valve should be used for the inspection valve before the meter. For household water meters in residences, maintenance valves and special drain devices after the meters may not be provided.
