Are ultrasonic water meters accurate?

No Mechanical Moving Parts: Traditional mechanical water meters rely on the flow of water to rotate a turbine for measurement. Over long-term use, bearing wear or turbine blockage by impurities can cause the meter to slow down, resulting in inaccurate measurements. Ultrasonic water meters have no moving parts, fundamentally eliminating wear and maintaining higher measurement accuracy throughout their lifecycle.

Advanced Measurement Principle: They use the "transit-time method", measuring the time difference of ultrasonic waves traveling with and against the water flow. This time difference is proportional to the flow velocity, which, when multiplied by the pipe's cross-sectional area, gives the flow rate.

Advantages: Ultrasonic Water meter can measure extremely low flow rates (high sensitivity) and can detect flow direction (capable of measuring backflow).

Wide Range Ratio: This is a key performance indicator for water meters. Mechanical water meters typically have a range ratio of R80 or R100, whereas ultrasonic water meters can reach R400 or even R800.
